Places and formes of power

 

So, I'm going to talk about the notion of « places and formes of power ».

First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion. Power is the ability of official capacity to exercice control or authority over others. It can be exerted by just, high political authorities, a group, a nation or the medias like TV, internet etc. Even when authority seems absolute, they are always counter-power wich question it and resist it.

How does counter-power resist the power in place ?

So, we can see two examples in order to illustrat conflicts and tension. We have seen documents, the first one is called Watchdogs of the sea and the second one is called Stop stealing our land.

 

First, will see Wtchdogs of the sea. This document is a picture. In the fourground, there is two small boats which seems to stop a big boat. The big boat is probably an oil propection machine. In fact, these zodiacs are from GreenPeace, an internantional organisation. The zodiacs are here because the want to preserve natural ressources. Finally, we can say that GreenPeace has ability to influence wold's behavior.

Then, the second document is a text. The title of his texte is « Stop stealing our land » written by AFP, a french agency. The texte deals with the Inuits who are worried about a lot of nations situated near the Arctic. These nations sometimes eye up the ressources, gas and oil. This situation leads to tensions. So, Inuits' Leader, Aqqualuck linge, decides to debate with these nation : The USA, Canada etc. The most important issue is that this nation recognize the right of the Inuits. Inuits created social cohesion in order to resit the power of the Untied Nation.
