Bonjour, Je suis Alaina la voisine de Stan, je suis en seconde. Je dois faire un texte en faisant le lien entre le Titanic et l'émigration. Nous avons vu le film Titanic avant les vacances scolaires.

J'ai beaucoup de mal à introduire un lien entre le titanic et l'émigration. Si vous avez une idée supplémentaires, je suis preneuse.

In the film, we see a significant difference in treatment between social classes. For example the poor were examined before they boarded. Then they went through a tiny door and had to carry their bags on their own while the rich were getting on the boat on a beautiful bridge. They were expected by men who helped them to take their bags and follow them up to their rooms. At Ellis Island, people were examined to see wether they had contagious diseases. The newcomers were treated like cattle. Moreover they could barely understand English and couldn't ask help to carry their suitcases. They had to carry on their own.

Then, always in the film " Titanic" we saw this difference between classes in the room and in the living area. The rich had large rooms with lots of space, there were decorations, maids and lots of things to make their lives easier while the poor had a bed in a tiny room and space life was really small compared to their number. The boat was divided into classes as the the rich and the poor.

Longtemps avant le Titanic (le Mayflower, pour n'en citer qu'un) et longtemps après lui, de nombreux bateaux de toutes sortes ont traversé l'Atlantique avec leur cargaison de migrants, souvent dans des conditions bien pires que celles évoquées par le film.
