Fiona.

1) Is French still spoken in Louisiana? OK

2) He was never told about his father. Erreur de temps =>> He had never been told about his father.

3) What is thought about death penalty in your country? ou What do you think about death penalty? Plutôt =>> What is the death penalty thought of in your country?

4)He was said to be shy.

5)What shall/will we do if it rains tomorrow?

6)To get angry should never been Là, je vois mal comment traduire par un passif. =>>One/We/People should never get angry.

7) I must go out, I am being waited for Plutôt =>> I have to leave, I'm being wanted/waited for. C'est trèèèèès littéraire. wink.png

8) So? are you enjoyed kids? =>> Now then kids, are you enjoying yourselves? Idem 6)

9) Stay there, we need you you are wanted/needed. < Là, le passif s'impose.

10) When (we are) on holiday, we don't like to write long letters OK Là, le passif serait trop tarabiscoté et lourd.

11) When will the truth will be told to me? =>> When will I be told the truth? Mémorise la construction : tell somebody something Cette construction, impossible en français, est la préférée de l'anglais.

12) He is unknown, he came in to our village yesterday Ouais, à la rigueur...laugh.png

13) What do you drink in your country? OK Le passif What is drunk... pourrait prêter à confusion.

14) A little ou some pocket money will be given to him ou He will be given a little/some pocket money Voir tell en 11), même règle.

15) They eat at three in Spain =>> They/People have lunch at three pm in Spain. Pour traduire prendre (un repas) l'anglais emploie have, jamais eat.

16) He was advised to stay some weeks in England Même erreur de temps qu'en 2) =>> He had been advised to spend a few weeks in England.

17) They were asked to give bring sandwiches Sinon, ils risquaient de garder l'estomac vide.laugh.png

18) We don't eat snails in England Ouais, ou bien carrément le passif =>> "Snails aren't eaten in England", our English friend says.

19) To keep calm is taught to English children ou They teach English children to keep calm Ni l'une ni l'autre mais bien le passif encore =>> English children are taught how to keep calm/ keep their cool.

20) Call your father, he is called/phoned wanted on the phone.

Bonjour,

permettez-moi de vous remercier pour cette correction et pour le dossier sur les verbes à compléments. Cela me parait plus clair, le passif a toujours été vu très rapidement lors des différentes classes.

Merci beaucoup monsieur et passez une bonne journée. Fiona
