Ce serait gentil de votre part Merci d'avance à vous tous. =D DON'T SELL THICK DIAPERS IN TOKYO. As the world turns into one big marketplace, American companies can learn a lesson from one of capitalism's darlings- Procter & Gamble. (...) In the late 1970s, Procter & Gamble introduced Pampers diapers in Japon , the world's second largest consumer market. Free samples were dropped at maternity wards and were delivered to mothers who simply used cloth diapers. At first , the effort paid off disposables grew from 2% to 10% of diaper changes. But at $50 a month, they were expensive. Perhaps more important, they were too bulky. Procter & Gamble had overlooked a critical cultural diference: Japanese mothers change their babies diapers 14 times a day- twice as often as most Americans. So they wanted a thin diaper that was easy to store and use. A Japanese company understood the need and its thinner disposable- the Moony- soon gained 23 % of the market. (...) In Asia Procter & Gamble adapted to some cultural norms that were politically incorrect by American standars. With other diaper makers, the compagny learned to promote a white unisex diaper in Korea, China and elsewhere-despite the American evolution to pink for girls and blue for boys. Why ? every time women take a pink package, they admit they have a daughter.(...) In Japan , though, Procter & Gamble somehow managed to ignore cultural practices as basic as China's sexism. To prove its detergent's superiority over other brands, the compagny resorted to its standard side-by-side product demonstrations of whiter shirt and brighter socks. Bad move: These ads did not appeal to Japanese who prefer harmony and polite business dealings. II) Say if the sentences are Right or Wrong and justify by quoting the text a) The journalist thinks that there is real globalisation in business > Right : " In the late 1970s, Procter & Gamble introduced Pampers diapers in Japon , the world's second largest consumer market" b) The original japanese reaction to Pampers was negative. Wrong : " In the late 1970s, Procter & Gamble introduced Pampers diapers in Japon , the world's second largest consumer market ". c)Pampers were not adapted to Japanese needs. Right :" In Japan , though, Procter & Gamble somehow managed to ignore cultural practices as basic as China's sexism." e) Procter & Gamble only sells diapers in Asia. Wrong : "As the world turns into one big marketplace, American companies can learn a lesson from one of capitalism's darlings- Procter & Gamble. (...)" III) Answer with complete sentences and use your own words a) What selling techniques did Procter & Gamble use in Asia. Give two example from the texte. P&G use 2 selling technique ine ASia. Firsly it sell a white diapers against the sexsim. Secondly use other product for show that its the best compagny . b) In Japenese opinion, what was not appropriate in the ads of Procter and Gamble ? In japanese opinion , in the ads of P&G the selling technique which use the compagny about the other product was not appropriate.
