Bonjour,

Dear Philip,

It's such a long time since we've been in touch, that I feel I must write a few lines to say hello and how much I miss you... I can't stand staying far from you. I suppose that your life isn't reliable. Do you eat enough ? Did you make friends ? Take care of you. We haven't news about life in the trenches, so I'm worried about you. I hope that my picture "te remontera le moral" (?) (the horse's name is Thunder).

I work on farm in the country to be part of the "Women's Land Army". We have to replace men as farm labourers (other women works in factories). Thanks to women the Brithish economy could go on. In my next letter, i promise that I will send you a picture of me when i'm wearing my uniform !

The life on farm is hard but the other women and me are united. The first contact with Lawrence's family was good. We live in a warm-hearted house. It's a physical challenge to participate in this work. The farm chores (muck out the cowshed, haverst crops, plough...) are exhausting. "Heureusement" (?) there is a great sisterhood and sometimes we have a rest.

I feel guilty to be here while you wage war. I Want you to know how it's difficult "de ne pas t'avoir près de moi" (?). My worst fear is to never see you again. I don't want to think of this possibility.

I hope you'll come back very soon because I can't help thinking that it's unfair to be separated because of the war.

I love you so much, I think of you everytime...

Seasons come and go, but our love will never die.

Love,

Stella

PS : Si vous avez la traduction des mots avec "(?)", n'hésitez pas !

Dear Philip,

It's BEEN such a long time since we <'ve been> WERE in touch, that I feel I must write a few lines to say hello and how much I miss you... I can't stand staying far from you. I suppose that your life isn't reliable. Do you eat enough? Did you make friends? Take care of you. We haven't news about life in the trenches, so I'm worried about you. I hope that my picture <"te remontera le moral" (?)> WILL CHEER YOU UP, the horse's name is Thunder.

I work on A farm in the country to be part of the "Women's Land Army". We have to replace men as farm labourers, other women work<s><(sujet pluriel !) in factories. Thanks to women the Brithish economy could go on. In my next letter, I promise that I will send you a picture of me when I'm wearing my uniform!

<The> life on THE farm is hard but the other women and me are united. The first contact with Lawrence's family was good. We live in a warm-hearted house. It's a physical challenge to participate in this work. The farm chores SUCH AS mucking out the cowshed, havesting THE FIELDS <crops>, ploughing... are exhausting. <"Heureusement" (?)> FORTUNATELY there is a great sisterhood and sometimes we have a rest.

I feel guilty to be here while you ARE wagING war. I want you to know how <t's> difficult IT IS <(interrogation indirecte = ordre des mots d'une affirmation) <"de ne pas t'avoir près de moi" (?).> NOT TO HAVE YOU BY MY SIDE. My worst fear is <to> never TO see you again. I don't want to think of this possibility.

I hope you'll come back very soon because I can't help thinking that it's unfair to be separated because of the war.

I love you so much, I think of you <every> ALL THE time/I keep on thinking of you...

Seasons come and go, but our love will never die.

Love,

Stella

* Ne disposerais-tu pas d'un bon dictionnaire ? :rolleyes:

Mis à part ces blancs, ce n'est pas mal du tout, ça sent même le vécu.

I work on A farm in the country to be part of the "Women's Land Army". We have to replace men <as>(2) LIKE (farm) labourers (other women work<s> in factories). Thanks to women, (the) Brithish economy could/WILL go on/THRIVE. In my next letter, <i> I promise that I will send you a picture of me when <i> I'm wearing my uniform/WITH MY UNIFORM ON !

<The life > Life on THE farm is hard but the other women and <me>(3) I are <united> CLOSE. The first contact with Lawrence's family was good. We live in a warm-hearted house/HOME. It's a physical challenge to participate in this work/PARTICIPATING IN THIS WORK IS A PHYSICAL CHALLENGE. <The> Farm chores (muckING out the cowshed, haverstING crops, ploughING...) are exhausting. <"Heureusement" (?)> FORTUNATELY there is a great sisterhood and <sometimes> we SOMETIMES have a rest.

I feel guilty to be here while you <wage> ARE WAGING war. I want you to know how <it's> difficult IT IS <"de ne pas t'avoir près de moi" (?)> NOT TO HAVE YOU BY MY SIDE. My worst fear is <to> never TO see you again. I don't want to think of this possibility.
