Mon oral d'anglais approche à grand pas et étant très nul en anglais, j'ai fortement besoin que l'on m'aide à corriger ma synthèse...

I’ld like to give a definition of the notion Places and forms of Power. Power is the ability to exercice authority and influence over others, like dictator, wars, discrimination... It can be exerted in different spheres : economy, politics, media, internet.

The places evoke a police stations (laws, justice,rules), a prison, a capital cities and « places » can be home also because parents represent authority, these are rules to respect. It can be school too.

 

To what extent can we say that universities are instruments of power?

We shall see at first the positive aspects of the studies superior to the USA. Then, we shall observe the consequences that undergo the students.

 

Nowadays, tuition fees are a subject which rests the problem of cause, particularly in the USA, but also Great Britain. Thus, in these countries to have the access to the university depends on our financial means.
Nevertheless, it can become difficult for the poor families, which cannot pay all the time tuition fees. 
We shall wonder how the American universities influence strongly the future of the students. 

The university can transmit a common culture and common standards of citizenship, and teach different skills. Students can meet new people and enrich their knowledge. They learn how to live without their parents, to be independent, to get more mature.
Besides, the American university is internationally recognized for the quality of his education and its equipment. Often, a big part of the world elite goes out of its rows (researchers, engineers, businessmen and women). 
The American universities estimate strongly the best sportsmen, presented as elements the main part to estimate the reputation of the University. It is what we can see in the text "It's about academics, Coach", in which Jojo, a famous student on the campus, is strongly estimated "He was has the star of basketball" l.20. He doesn't need to work hard and to get good marks to succed : The University would be ready to change his mark.

Often movies reflect us an image idealized the American universities, without revealing us the reality.
 

In the USA, the cost of university is really expensive. Indeed, the American universities are committed in a competition between establishments. So, everything is installed to attract the best profiles, like Jojo, and this politics to an important cost. To offer to the students the campus most modern and more attractive than the rival establishments, universities realize massive expenses which the students pay directly by their registration fees. Nevertheless, it is not then without consequence.
The text " How I avoid student loans " studied in class, shows us the difficulty that experience, beacause some students towards the university " So, I always just seemed to know that college would be expensive” l.12. 
Besides, the article " of the Washington Post " shows us that 36 % of the students do not eat in their hunger because they have no enough money to feed. 
We also observe the same case in Great Britain, because in October, 2010, the English Government passed a new law which gives to the university the right to increase their tuition fees. 

Indeed, the American education system, differs completely from the French system. Because ' in the United States, the students pay on average 18 000 dollars, or 50 000 dollars for the most prestigious universities.
Whereas in France, tuition fees are lesser: from 200 to 400 euros according to the level of the university. 
Besides, on October 7th, 2012 Michelle Obama publishes a message of staff, on Twitter , calling back that the couple had adjusted its last student loans only recently " Eight years ago, adjusted us the last one of our student loans. Now of work to make the education of more accessible Barack for students today. " It reflects these American studies which put in the debt the young students until the adulthood.

 

 

To conclude, the access to the studies superiors can be advantageous for our future. Because by having a diploma, i have the power to have a good work and a better life of. Nevertheless, universities can have an influence on them student as we can notice it with the case of Jojo. Besides, this problem is not ready to improve because in his article " the United States: tuition fees make due generations for the life " published in 13/04/2017, the Journalist RTL François Lenglet, explains that the debt of the students affects 1.300 billion dollars. So there is today 44 million students who got into debt to finance their studies and 8 millions of them cannot pay.
