In today's world these exchanges can take several forms: economic - labor exchanges, commodity exchange, trading across borders, cultural - the exchange of ideas, information, movement of persons, immigration. In this unit we will focus on the fact that migrants feel that life is better on the other side of the border. Indeed, they leave their city to settle the other with the hope of a better life and a future happier. To address this issue I'm going to help me several documents seen in class to answer the question: Enclosures can they stop us? First I will focus on different aspects that can be found beyond the barriers and then in a second step I will show that the will can sometimes exceed the limits and barriers. In a document studied in class, we saw that the gates were not the only things that could hinder migrants to cross to the other side. The document is called "Is the grass really greener? ". It is an arid desert without vegetation, the soil is dry. There dotted lines on the ground, representing Mexican-American borders. The second document studied in class will show us that despite the imposed barriers and risk taking, willingness, courage and hope are much stronger and can help us to overcome them. This document studied in class goes back before the Berlin Wall was built, before aouts 1961. This is a passage from the book of Douglas Kennedy, entitled "the moment." the passage is called "the last chance" and deals with the journey of a young woman from East Germany who leaves East Germany just before the authorities closed all borders. With it we find the second main character, the narrator of the story. We do not know more things about this man in this passage. It may well be American. They both are in an airplane. The woman tells her story and she is very nervous, she has joined her lover but she has not heard from him. It is important to understand that it was very hard to leave everything overnight without projects, or anyone. Those who decided escaped from their countries were also taking risk of never seeing their families, their friends, which was very hard to bear. They were not sure to see them one day. Also, they knew that those remaining could suffer from their flight because of their position in the party. But we can see in this story that sometimes the courage and strength of character were pushing people to see further and flee their country. Building a new life to feel it better. To conclude I would say that people are escaping their countries are a lot of courage. This quality and willingness shoots to cross borders. Sometimes the conditions under which they cross this test are deadly. but still, the country's laws are stricter today. For example, in Arizona, a law passed in 2010 states that anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant can be arrested and detained for questioning.
