I am going to talk about the notion of myths and heroes. First of all, I would like to give a definition of that notion. A myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a popular belief or a tradition or a false notion. A hero can be a mythological figure, a person who is admired for his or her achievements, a superhero or maybe a role model or an icon. A myth is a story that may or may not be true. All cultures have myths and this mythology has been developed over time. Mythology includes the legends of our history, our religions, stories of how the world was created, and our heroes. These stories have great symbolic power, and this may be a major reason why they survive as long as they do, sometimes for thousands of years. A hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. It can be the main character in a book or a film or a person with superhuman qualities. It can also be a modern-day hero, a person who has performed a heroic act or simply our own personal hero, our role model, who we look up to. In my argument, I will try to answer the question: what is a hero and what is its influence on society? I'm interested in his place in society and how it can help us to do more, to act and to excel. The heroes have emerged for the first time in Greek mythology. For them, a hero was a character who was paid courage and remarkable exploits and who exercised over men and events great influence. He rose above mortal waging war with bravery, or by accomplishing feats with courage. The main heroes were Ulysses, Heracles famous hero, known for its strength or Achilles. The heroes have always taken place in society in different ways, with the same aim, to change the world and make it better. Over time, the heroes have changed their appearance and they acquired supernatural powers. We find the time today superheroes like Batman, Superman, Captain Marvel or Wonder Women. Despite having changed, their goal remains the same. Fighting evil, saving people in danger and continue to make us dream. But heroes are not only in books or movies. We also find in real life, patriotic and national heroes like athletes, politicians and human rights defenders. Here, we find Martin Luther King, who fought against racial segregation with Rosa Parks. This man is a hero because he was able to assert his ideas face many opponents, he defended black men, that they are respected and that there was peace in his country. He made the courageous acts, heroic, about his speeches and boycotts. He is a hero and someone to emulate and follow. Different but always heroic battles. They exist and are around us, near to changing the world, ideas, life. Then there are the so forgetting a little. The unknown hero, meadows save lives to defend their homeland and to help others. Firefighters, rescue workers, the war hero, charity workers. For example, in the attack of September 11th, the firefighters who were there are now considered heroes. They showed a lot of courage, strength and an impressive patriotism. Each person that I mentioned, have taken a different combat, realistic or not, we can identify their struggle with ours. Child as adult. Therefore, they affect the whole society with more or less direct ideas according to class of individuals affected. After that, the hero is a model for humans. Their qualities give us desire to excel, achieve more things, and drives us to do better. This is why man is, to some extent feasible, and projects the power of fictional characters on a real person. We can see that we project onto the people known, the image of the hero. We can have our own hero, as a person of our family. For its qualities and what it does, it can become a model for us. As Oscar Pistorius for example, it can be a model of mental strength and courage for people with disabilities. Moreover these heroes can give us hope of a better world, a world without war, without racism, without trial and without differences. As we showed Nelson Mandela who fought against racial segregation imposed by the white minority, inspired by Gandhi to fight against apartheid and nonviolence. This man is an example of struggle, courage, hope. He moves the world, people, pushing them to fight, screaming and climbing. This form of heroism is, in my opinion, one of the largest and, thanks to this man, it was shared. These people, they go against the current, as Mandela at the time, whether real or not, as superheroes found in books, they can inspire us intellectually as physically. They can inspire our lifestyle and our way of thinking. These people can be role models. I think they have a great influence on society because they never disappear into oblivion, they are still there, in the history of a country or in a memory. They affect all populations and all generations.
