Voici mon 4ème texte !

The American dream means that you can carry out your projects, if you do everything to succeed in your life, to become rich, famous, or just happy. Opportunities to have a better life exist; everybody can have a chance. Through hard work, we can manage to make your dreams come true. There’s no limit to the American dream. Thanks to our will, we can do everything. It’s a definition of the American dream and according to this definition; we can do it we want. But the American dream is it a myth or a reality? For ask at this question, we see an example of an immigrant and we see the American’s life.

My example for know if the American dream is real is a Mexican immigrant, today I’m going to talk about a man, who perfectly reflects the definition of the American dream, and I mean Cesar Millan. He’s the first dog trainer in the USA who succeeded in reaching the highest position in the world when greatest celebrities are on the wane like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.

But Cesar Millan hadn’t an easy career path. He lived in a poor village in Mexico, and he decided to live in the USA. The 17 years old Mexican suffered a lot of ordeals to manage to cross the border. Once he had entered the USA, Cesar Millan needed to flee not to be driven in detention facilities. Little by little, he managed to make himself known. Then one day, a TV official offered him to do a show and this is the moment when Cesar Millan became famous as a “dog whisperer”.

Finally, Cesar Millan shows us that the American dream exists because although he was confronted with the border obstacle and lacked identity papers, he succeeded in going to the USA and having a better live. He’s a man who started from nothing, who was a poor Mexican and who just wanted to become famous. He’s someone who doesn’t give up the struggle and I think that the expression: “when there’s a will, there’s a way” corresponds to him. He proves that when there’s a will, we can do everything. We can to leave from nothing and make our dreams come true!

I think that this example allows seeing that the definition of the American dream was applied and that it’s possible to realize a dream. We see that Cesar Millan is:

Famous; rich; happy; he has a family; a son.

After my example when we see that the American is not a myth, we will see the American’s life.

In American, a lot of people know the poverty, the unemployment, there are a lot single parents, and the studies for the child are very expensive…

When people come to America searching for the dream, not much of persons exceed the social barrier. We can say that to live in American is not so easier than in France because even if Cesar Millan succeeded, he is a part of little number of lucky.

To conclude :

The American Dream has many aspects, and it can be fact or fiction depending on the efforts of the people. But in general, the American is a myth…

The American dream means that you can make your plans a reality ("carry out projects" plutôt dans une entreprise), if you do everything to succeed in your life, to become rich, famous, or just happy. Opportunities to have a better life exist; everybody can have a chance. Through hard work, you (car "your dreams") can manage to make your dreams come true. There’s no limit to the American dream. Thanks to our will, we can do everything. It’s a definition of the American dream and according to this definition; we can do whatever (tout ce que l'on veut) we want. But is the American drem a myth or a reality ? In order to answer this question (afin de répondre à cette question, ask voulant dire demander), we're going to see an example of an immigrant and then, the American life. (pas de 's)

To know if the American drem is real or not, I chose a mexican immigrant as an example. Today I’m going to talk about a man, who perfectly pictures (qui illustre plutôt) the definition of the American dream, Cesar Millan (and I mean n'est pas nécessaire, trop lourd). He’s the first dog breeder in the USA who reached (moins lourd, bien plus pertinent) the first position in the world when greatest celebrities are on the wane like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. (Que voulais-tu dire ?)

But Cesar Millan hadn’t an easy career. (path inutile) He lived in a poor village in Mexico, and he decided to move to (déménager, aller vivre) the USA. The seventeen-year-old Mexican have weathered many storms to cross the border (expression, à traversé beaucoup d'épreuves pour passer la frontière). Once he entered the USA, Cesar Millan had to run away so as not to be placed in a detention center. Step by step, he managed to make a name for himself (se faire un nom, se faire connaître). Then one day, an official television channel (une chaîne de tv officielle) proposed him to create a show in his image (lui ont proposé de créer un show à son image) and it was the moment when Cesar Millan became widely known as (très connu comme étant...) a “dog whisperer”.

Finally, Cesar Millan proves us (plus pertinent et nuancé) that the American dream exists because although he has been faced with several obstacles, like the border and the identity papers (bien qu'il ait été confronté à plusieurs obstacles, comme la frontière et les papiers, sous-entendu qu'il ne les avait pas), he managed to go to the USA and to get a better life. He's a man who started from scratch (to start from scratch=partir de rien), who was a poor Mexican and who just wanted to become famous. He’s someone who doesn’t give up the fight and I think that the expression: “when there’s a will, there’s a way” suits him (mieux que correspond). He proves that when there’s a will, we can do everything. We can start from scratch and make our dreams come true!

I think that this example allowed us to see that the definition of the American dream applied and that it’s possible to fulfill a dream (realize veut seulement dire se rendre compte). We see that Cesar Millan is:

famous, rich, happy, and he has a family. (mal ponctué, redondance family/son)

After having established that the American dream was not a myth, we're going to see the American life.

In America, a lot of people know the poverty, the unemployment, there are a lot of single parents, and the studies are very expensive (of the children inutile)

When people come to America looking for (mieux que searching for) the dream, not many (much quand c'est inquantifiable) persons exceed the social barrier. We can say that living in America (america=amerique/american=américain) is harder than living in France (est plus dur que vivre en France) because even if Cesar Millan succeeded, he's part of a small number of lucky ones (to be part of=faire partie de/ to be a part of=être une partie de, ca ne veut pas dire grand chose quand on parle d'une personne.)

To conclude :

The American Dream has many aspects, and it can be a fact or a fiction depending on the efforts of the people. But in general, the American dream is a myth…

Voilà ! J'espère ne rien avoir oublié!

All the best,
