Journalist : How would you describe Dorian Gray ?

Ben Barnes : I think Dorian Gray is a man who was happier before he met Lord Henry Wotton (played by Colin Firth). When Henry Wotton told Dorian how beautiful he was the painter found a way to convince him to sell his soul so he could stay forever young. Before this meeting Dorian would never have thought of it. He didn’t even realize he was good-looking.

J : Why do you think Dorian did sell his soul ?

B.B : He probably did so because when he realized he was beautiful he got scared to lose his beauty and it became the most important thing he ever had.

J : Can you identify to Dorian Gray ? Do you take care of your image ?

B.B : I wouldn’t sell my soul to stay young, I’d like to grow old but I do take care of my image. I don’t have the choice. For example, when Narnia came out it was crazy so I needed to check everything I was doing. I also like to be well dressed but I’m not obsessed with my look. I think there are thinks way more important then staying hours in front of your mirror

J : Do you think Dorian is a myth ? Why so ?

B.B : No, I don’t think he’s a myth. Oscar Wilde’s story is more, to me, like a new version of Narcisuss’ legend. Narcisuss is the real myth and Dorian is a contemporary version of him.

J : Why is Gray so superficial ?

B.B : I’m not sure to know how to answer. I’m not even sure Dorian would be able to.

J : How do you think Dorian would be if he was living in 2010 ?

B.B : He would do plastic surgery *laugh*. No, more serioulsy I think he would be the same, just with the possibility to look young without being cursed. However plastic surgery isn‘t as realistic as he would liked

We interviewed Ben Barnes who plays Dorian Gray in the movie which came out a week ago. He agreed to discuss with us what he thinks of Dorian and his quest to stay forever young. We talked about the main carctere and his choices as well as the atmosphere between the different members of the cast.

B.B : Suprisingly well. Colin, Rebecca (Rebecca Hall who played Emily Wotton) and I had really a lot of fun filming this movie together. I definitly enjoyed being a part of this amazing cast.

Merci, j'avoue que je ne m'étais pas relue par manque de temps et que j'ai fait ça tardivement hier soir. Trop de choses à faire ces derniers temps ^^ En tout cas merci beaucoup !

Par contre il me semblait que lorsqu'un nom se finissait par un s on pouvait ne mettre que l'apostrophe sans rajouter un second s (Narcissus'/Narcissus's)
