The offspring is a punk rock group.

The group « the offspring » is composed of four people. Dexter Holland who is the singer and tue guitarist, Noodles who is the guitarist and the singer too, Greg K who is the bass player of the group, and Ron Welty who is the dummer.

The history of The Offspring starts in 1984 in Orange county, a city located in the state of California in the USA. Dexter Hooland and Greg K decide to form a group with two friends, Doug thompson (singer) and Jim Benton (drummer). At that time, none could play of an instrument. The name of the group was MANIC SUBSIDAL. A day, the two friends, Doug and Jim left the group, also, Dexter became the singer and James Lilja takes the place of the drummer and Noodles came (à son tour) in the group.

In 1985, the group decided to change of name, it is caled now The Offspring (in french it means la progéniture). But, James misses many concerts because of his studies at the medical school. He is remplaced by Ron welty, old of 16 years old.

In 1987, they released their first single « I will be waiting ».

In 1989, They produced their first album who (porte)the name of the group.

In 1992, they released their second album « Ignition », solda t 10 000 albums.

In 1994, the concecration arrived with the (sortie) of « Smash ». The sale of this album amounted to 14 million of albums. After this album, the group knew many concerts and festivals. And, for the first time one could heard The offspring on the radio.

In 1997, the album « Ixnay on the hombre » released despite is an excellent album, the sale reached at 3 million of album.

In 1998, they released the albun « Americana », with this album, the group became popular. The sale amounted to 15 millions of album all over the world.

In november 2000, the disc « Conspiracy of one » released , i twas an album with a new style and new subjects.

In march 2003, Ron Wealty leaft the groupin the middle og the recording of new album, after 15 years in the group. The later album « Splinter » released at the end of 2003.
