I was working in the Liverpool Merchant in 1700. She was the first known slave ship and sailed from Liverpool to the West Africa. I was a sailor from this ship. Arrived in Africa, I went captured Africans in their villages with other sailors. We took only adults and children abandoned because they couldn’t work like adults. We backed slaves on the ship’s hull where packed them. Each slaves had 24 inches, they had little space to move. They had no privacy. The slaves’ travelling conditions were inhumane and humiliating. In the hull, it was noisy. Slaves couldn’t sleep. It was stank because slaves couldn’t wash, neither go to the toilets. They couldn’t breathe fresh air and they could be sick. This document show slaves locked in the hull. They stripped naked in bunk beds. They tied up with handcuffs and chains. hen we went to the middle passage, from Africa to America for exchange slaves against tobacco, sugar, cotton and coffee. They were sailed to the colonies and were forced to labour. Finally, we backed to Europe for sell goods. I saw slaves dehumanized, the trader’s behaviour is pitiless, merciless, cruel. Traders must regret having to misbehave because they acted in profits. Slaves deserved not it. I was shocked by these practices: for example when we whipped slaves as on the photograph:

They only thought about their own profit. Slaves didn't deserve this fate. I was shocked by these practices especially when they used to whip slaves.
