Pour Jeudi, je dois réaliser un compte-rendu du film The Descendants, avec résumé, présentation des personnages et avis. The movie focuses on Matt’s thoughts. It is a mixture between comedy and drama, the boundary is always thin. The title makes reference to two things : the relationship sometimes difficult between the father and his daughters and the decision to sell the land. If the father did not take care of his family, the condition of Elizabeth allows him to get closer to his daughters, as the secret of her death. They recreate a link. The movie offers very beautiful scenery, and is quite peaceful, to the rhythm of typical music. The Descendants tackles serious issues like the loss of a close parent and the different family circle’s reactions. Besides, the characters are interesting, especially Matt King who is very moving. In conclusion, the movie is crammed with emotions. It was directed by Alexander Payne and it was nominated for five Academy Awards : best picture, actor in a leading role, directing, adapted screenplay and film editing. The Descendants won the Academy Award for adapted screenplay and won also the Golden Globe Awards for best picture drama and best actor drama.
