novel, why you enjoyed reading it and why you would recommend it to your best friend. (150 words)

My novel is a wonderful book, with differents characters, a story which indeed ends. I recommend this novel to my friend because this history(story) is a reality current nowadays. In the first time I would speak about characters, then of period, and finally the contents of the storyMy favourite novel is "Au Bonheur des Dames" by Emile Zola.

There are many characters like customers, vendors, family but the two main characters are Octave Mouret and Denise.

The novel takes place in the late 19th century and I like very much this period, because The bourgeois mentality, the decorations(sets), the steady language of the characters are really fantastic

This story tells that Denise and her two brothers arrive in paris. They are poor, so Denise will work in a store "Au Bonheur des Dame". This store makes close all the nearby commercants.The problem is that Denise has family in small stores, but she has to work in «au bonheur des dames», for to live. The funny thing is that the director falls in love with Denise and they will eventually marry

Friends are a very important part of my life. Especially WHEN BEING A teenager, ONE feels very lost and alone at times. Sometimes IT IS very hard for parents to understand how things work NOWADAYS, because I definitely imagine that teenage life today, is very different FROM WHAT it was about TWENTY or THIRTY years ago. Having friends gives you a ring of moral support, and GIVES YOU THE POSSIBILITY OF MEETING people that can give you A PIECE OF advice FOR SOLVING a problem.

BESIDES, since we spend about A THIRD of our day AT school surrounded by MATES and most of our weekends BY friends, it is safe to say that they know US WELL.

On the other HAND, friends WITHIN THE family are a key cornerstone to every person's life! PERSONALLY, I have recently gone through some tough times , and my friends have been there with me every step of the way. They called me and gave me endless amounts of advice. Friendship, AS FAR AS I KNOW, is one of the things that I MUST have in order to live my life to the fullest. When you are in REAL need of someone and you are scared to call your parents, you know you can call that one friend, and HE OR SHE will COME running to your rescue. (Friends also help to ground you, and chances are if you have a few really FABULOUS friends you're smooth sailing through life! )

TO CONCLUDE, Friendship is VERY MUCH important and necessary in order to SUCCEED IN life. A Friend can be a shoulder to lean on, someone to get your emotions out to, and someone who understands you. We need friends for close interaction. THEY make us the people we are today. (They can make or break us) All I know is that if I spend a day without talking to someone, I feel depressed and everything is boring.

Remember the use of contracted forms and numbers is only for informal letters. This is a formal piece of writing. At the end you refer to Mary as if it was a letter for her but it isn't, so you have to refer to her in the 3rd person

My favourite novel is called Viou, written by Henry Troyat. Viou is about a little girl named Sylvie, aged 8 years, who lives with her grandparents in Puy. She knows little about her father, who died in the war, and rarely sees her mother, Juliette, who went to live in Paris to work. Sylvie has a very distant relationship with her grandmother, a devout Catholic, who gives her tough love. One day, while returning from school, she learns that her grandfather is (maybe "ill" or "in an accident"). Two days later he dies...

Henry Troyat's novel touches me deeply because the situation in the story must have been hard to bear. Being fatherless and only seeing her mother very rarely must have been hard to bear for such a young girl. This book shows us how a mother's love is very important for a child. "Sylvie's passion for her mother was so strong that the mere mention of her face she felt a distant bounding heart, an impulse to the muscles, the desperate desire to snuggle into welcoming arms." While reading this novel, you feel like Sylvie--you understand. You feel her joys and sorrows because her thoughts, feelings, and actions are described very well. In addition, the author presents the small Viou as if he has read the thoughts of the young girl, which makes the book very realistic.

So, this is why I would recommend this book to my best friend. I think it is touching and (is easy to identify with?)
