Voici mon devoir:

To what extent are significant differences between people a serious obstacle in love or friendship? First, we can see that differences are very important for some people, but we can also see that other people overcome it, and don't pay attention to differences.

On the one hand, differences can constitute an obstacle in love or friendship, and they create conflicts. Actually, differences used to be at the origin of misunderstandings. For example, in social terms, when a rich person meets a poor and homeless person, we can be sure that the person will hesitate to get on the relation whom she has started because the person's family will disagree their relation: it's the case for Romeo and Juliet. They fall in love but their family are too different and they mustn't to be together. We find this idea as regards the friendship. A rich person hasn't same centres of interest as a poor person. So one friendship is difficult.

It's the same situation in religious terms. For instance, difference between Muslims and Christians keep on them. A Moslem person hasn't same ideas and same opinions as a Christian person, so often, the religion is a problem for the love, but it is less frequent for the friendship: persons are more comprehensive between them when it is about friendship. Nevertheless, several times, the religion is also a problem to create a friendship. It is called the racism. We don't want to speak and credit note of relation with somebody who have different religion.

But we can notice that this way of thinking doesn't come necessarily from us, put people who surround us. We want to do as everybody, and we are afraid of the other one, we are afraid of the stranger, then we want to stay with those who look like us. It is not so much the differences which are an obstacle to the love or to the friendship that the prejudices which ensue from it. We build up ourselves our barriers towards our misunderstanding of the other one.

Je vous remercie d'avoir pris la peine de me corriger. J'ai réussi à corriger presque toutes mes erreurs mais j'aurais encore besoin de votre aide .

Pour cette citation : "For instance, differences between Muslims and Christians keep on them <???. " Je voulais dire que les différences entre les musulmans et les chrétiens les éloignent. J'ai cherché dans le dictionnaire le verbe "éloigner" et je ne sais pas du tout lequel choisir ( il y en a plusieurs qui correspondent) car je n'en trouve aucun qui aille dans cette phrase. Si vous pouviez m'aider à en choisir un : take away, alienate, dismiss, get away from, banish, keep at bay, keep off ( 'est celui ci que j'avais voulu mettre tout à l'heure, je m'étais trompée).
