He named Garou-Garou. Nobody dare to approach. Nobody dare to talk him. And everybody shook to fear and whispered: Be careful! Be careful! He is the most ferocious among wolves. When Garou-Garou committed his self in the forest, rabbits threw their self into the burrows, stags ran away between thickets, birds flew away to old trees top and old owl said: Be careful! Be careful! He is the most ferocious among wolves. Terrified animals closed their eyes to don’t see past the terrible Garou-Garou. Even so, the big wolf was afraid of everything: snakes who waddled on the ground, toads who did bubbles in the water. He was afraid of tiny spiders and snails too! But what he hated above all, it was to find in the dark night. In his cave, Garou-Garou was put up a nightlight: it was a light ray whose he never turned off. He was glided a torch over his pillow too. And before to close his eyes, he repeated three times: Carabi and Caraba, my torch is here, near me! Carabi and Caraba, no, I didn’t bad dreams to night! And the wolf, now confident, fell asleep. Unfortunately, he woke up with a start every night. Shadows danced around his self: witches with big nose and starving ogres who wanted to devour him… And the wolf started crying: Ouh, ouh, ouh! He mumbled, he stammered: He… He… Help! He put his head under his eiderdown whining: Momy! Momy! There is a giant! There is a naughty monster! After a few time, the wolf rubbed eyes, he turned on his torch and aimed it at the window and the forest. Immediately, all shadows disappeared: witches and ogres became trees and bushes. There wasn’t any giant… And Garou-Garou sighed: I’m just doing a nightmare… It’s usual when one afraid of dark. A night, the big wolf didn’t succeed in sleeping. He tried to count the sheep, but the sheep ran away and yelled: Be careful! Be careful! It’s the most ferocious among wolves. He turned and returned his self in his bed when suddenly someone knocked on the cave’s door: Toc, toc, toc! Gee! Never somebody had dared to come in his home. Garou-Garou started to shake and whispered: Who… who… who is there? Daisy! She answered with a very soft voice. The wolf moved towards the door walking on tiptoe and took a peek through the keyhole… but the night was so dark that he made out nothing. What do you want? Garou-Garou growled. I’m lost in the forest, said the little girl. I’m frightening. Help me, please! Very surprised, the wolf had a slight cough and asked: Do you know Garou-Garou? Garu-Gara-Garou? Not at all! Daisy said. So the wolf had an idea, a genial idea. He hid his torch over the mattress. Only the nightlight gave light at the cave. Thus, the little girl doesn’t see me. He thought. And he opened the door. May I enter? Daisy said politely. Of course! The wolf answered. My name is Garou-Garou. The little girl opened wide her eyes and exclaimed: Oooh! Don’t see anything here! Have you got a torch, by chance? Euuu… no, no, no! The wolf stammered. Too bad! Daisy said who climbed on the bed smiling and fell asleep right away. Garou-Garou couldn’t get over it. It was the first time of his life, he has talked to somebody…. And somebody has answered without take to shout to fear. I was the first time of his life somebody raised a smile for him. It was the first time of his life he liked the dark who hid his hairy ears and his long pointed teeth. The wolf was so moved than two tiny tears glistened on the eyes’ corner. Yes but tomorrow… He sighed. Tomorrow, it was getting light! Tomorrow, Daisy fled and everything restarted as usual. Garou-Garou took his torch out of his pocket and aimed the light at the big bed where the little girl was sleeping. Her two blond plaits formed a heart on the pillow. Finally, used up, the big wolf lay on the floor and fell asleep too. The morning after, Daisy opened her eyes a little. She caught side of an enormous black shape huddled up on the carpet. Surprised she whispered: Are you Garou-Garou? Yes, it’s me, answered the wolf. Garou-Garou didn’t dare to move to fear to frighten the little girl, and he added: If you want, you may go away. The door doesn’t lock. Ooh! No! Daisy said. I prefer to stay few times again. She jumped out the bed and approached her to Garou-Garou: Are you a giant dog? Are you a very bad dog? Not at all! Garou-Garou said. Are you a hairy elephant? Or a hairy mammoth? Not at all! Garou-Garou said. Are you maybe a wolf? The little girl asked. Exactly! Garou-Garou said. I’m a wolf who is afraid of everything. Even little girls? Daisy was surprised. Yes… Garou-Garou said who he didn’t believe really in. So Daisy sit near the big wolf and caressed his black fur. You are very soft, Mister The Wolf who is afraid of everything! Me, I’m not afraid to you. Laughing, the little girl motion to Garou-Garou to stand up and she jumped on her shoulders: Get going, Mister The Wolf! I live other side of the forest; may you take me in my house, please? Very proud Garou-Garou left his cave. He crossed over the forest and rushed off. Soon, rabbits threw their self into the burrows, stags ran away between the tickets, birds flee away to old trees top and the old owl said: Be careful! Be careful! It’s the most ferocious among wolves! Terrified animals closed their eyes to don’t see past the terrible Garou-Garou. But suddenly, the old owl opened one wide eye … and what he saw? A little girl with two blond plaits sit on wolf’s shoulders! Look! Everybody look Garou-Garou! He isn’t more ferocious at all! Isn’t he more ferocious at all? The fearful rabbit was surprised. No more ferocious at all, at all, at all? Happy birds blew. And the dumbfounded animals followed the wolf on the way. But Garou-Garou didn’t turn his self. He crossed the forest with wide steps and Daisy was delighted. One tell he don’t return in his house and he is never more afraid of the night.
