I can’t supposed the narrator’s home town is in the Middle West because the scene takes place in Minnesota. And “s’il avait habité” in California or in New England “il ne serait pas passer” by the border between Minnesota and Canada.

2.Pourriez vous me traduire cette phrase

3.Why did the old man take Tim on the fishing trip ? Imagine Elroy’s feelings throughout the incident. Is Elroy a likeable character ? Why ? Why no ?

The old man take Tim on the fishing trip to give him the opportunity of choose his future: jump for go to Canada and no make war or stay in the boat for return in the USA and go to Vietnam’s war.

Even if Elroy’s didn’t speak during the incident, he was touched by Tim’s story and his choice. Indeed, Elroy’s has certainly knew the war, and her atrocities. The old man must be think that Tim didn’t make “the good choice”.

Admittedy, Il aurait été traité de lache but il n’aurait pas connu the Vietnam war and all his atrocities. Maybe, he was sad and disappointed that Tim has choose the war.

For me, Elroy doesn’t seem a likeable characters. Indeed, he appears very “cold” and very distant of Tim and his story.

Moreover, Elroy doesn’t speak and he stay impassive in front of the river. Maybe it’s for laisser Tim libre de son choix.

I thinks is for why, he appear unpleasant to the lectors
