Cordialement Synthèse Mythes et héros I am going to talk about the notion myths and heroes. A hero is someone who risks his life in order to save or defend people. I think a hero is necessarily brave, bold and does outstanding feats. Then, a myth is a legend or a traditional story with Golds or half-Gods or superhuman traditions of a society or a natural phenomenon. In class, we asked ourselves: “What makes ordinary people become heroes?” Foremost, we talked about the cover of Time, and then the second document is a video about the problem in Pakistan. Finally, we talked about a press article entitled “The hero of Soweto”. Firstly, I am going talk about the cover of Time; it is an American weekly magazine. It was published in 2013; it is a special issue because it shows the one hundred most powerful people in the world. On the cover on the right, we can see a list of names and in centre, there is a portrait of a teenager girl. Her name is Malala Yousafzai; she is 19 years old, a Pakistani teenager who was shot by the Taliban’s in a school bus in 2012. Because she was fighting for girls’ right to study in Pakistan. She received death threats for that. Finally, she survived in a British Hospital and got the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. Then, the second document is a video, which shows the problems, which takes place in Pakistan. There is a war against the Taliban is considered as terrorists, who caused 4 Million Pakistani, people to flee from their country. It causes educational problems to the girls because their literary rate is lower than boys are. There is a common practise early marriage. The girls are married from the age of nine and to stop going to school. Some female leaders were killed by the Taliban’s because they fought for freedom. Finally, the last document is a press article taken from the times a Britishs newspaper, it was published in 2006 and is entitled “The hero of Soweto”. Soweto is an acronym, which means South West Township, in Johannesburg. The text is about a Hector Peterson is a South African schoolboy died during the Soweto riots, killed by South Africa police during a demonstration to protest against a law imposing Afrikaans as language of instruction for black children. During apartheid, Charles Dickens wrote much free to be banned, but the students are going to be captivated by the story of Oliver Twist. He represented a hero for these young people because he is courageous. Nevertheless, some of the student died for their fight and others were arrested and went to prison. In conclusion, these ordinary people have become heroes thanks to their courage. They wanted to bring peace in their country and acted when there were many danger and make new laws.
