stephy84 Posté(e) le 28 janvier 2004 Signaler Posté(e) le 28 janvier 2004 Group Danone SA,a French food company,said Thursday that it planned to cut 1,803 jobs across Europe and close 6 cookie factories to reduce costs.Two plants will be shut and 806 jobs lost in France."This reorganization is necessary to protect manufacturing competitiviness",said the company in a statement.The shake-up has been expected since January,when Le Monde reported that Danone would shut at least 10 factories and cut as many as 6,000 jobs.Danone has bought all or part of at least six cookie faxtories to operate at 57 percent capacity by June 2004,up from 43 percent now,the company announced."There's considerable margin for improvement",said Pierre Tegner,an analyst at Wargny Brokers,"since rival cookie makers' factories operate at 75 to 80 percebt capacity".
