I / Pesticides

70.3% fruits contain pesticide residues and an average of 8.5% are non-compliant. Overruns are mainly strawberries, tangerines and grapes.

8.2% of cereals and cereal products analyzed have higher rates of non-compliant residues.

No non-compliance was detected on processed products, feed products for animals, infant food products, teas, infusions, coffee and spices.

Some fruits and vegetables containing pesticides are imported but unregistered or banned in France: 103 tons of illegal pesticides were found in the hexagon in 2008.

The objective of the Grenelle de l'Environnement is 50% reduction in pesticide within 10 years, according to a survey (October 2008).

Eating organic is currently the best solution for reducing pesticides in our food, but unfortunately it does not allow us to avoid them altogether since some pesticides applied to fields is found in the atmosphere and in stormwater.
