1) She (go) went to New York for the first time in 1890. In those days, air travel (not/exist) didn't exist . It (take) was taking three weeks to sail from France to America by boat. When she (leave) left home, she (feel) was feeling very excited. Imagine! She (go) was going abroad on her own.

For the occasion, she (wear) was wearing her best clothes.

Her parents (come) came to Le Havre to say goodbye. All around her, people (kiss) were kissing and (hug) were hugging. When the boat (sail off) sailed off, she (can see) could see that her mother (cry) was crying and her father (shout) was shouting last minute recommendations!

C'était en 1880 / On était en 1880 et il partait pour l'aventure, comme il marchait sur le montait à bord du bateau, il la remarquéea. - T'es-tu demandé ce que "marchait sur le bateau" pouvait bien vouloir dire ? Ne peux-tu imaginer la scène, "te faire ton cinéma" ?

- Le passé simple est préférable pour décrire une scène dans un passé lointain.

Elle était vêtue / habillée d'une longue robe blanche et portait une valise.

3) Traduisez les phrases suivantes en anglais

Le prétérit avec Be + V-ing décrit une activité en cours dans le passé, servant de cadre à l'action indiquée par le prétérit simple.

It was in 1967 that when my grandfather off-loaded landed in France. Attention au dictionnaire !

3. Il m'a souvent raconté qu'il regrettait le soleil de son pays.

4) Traduisez en anglais en utilisant la forme passive

1. À Ellis Island, les gens étaient traités comme du bétail (cattle)

At Ellis Island, people were treated like cattle.

They were examined to see if / whether they could have had contagious diseases. L'ajout du modal modifie le sens de la phrase de départ.

3. On dit que les immigrants hispaniques (Hispanic)

We say that a new vitality is brought by hispanic immigrants. Hispanic immigrants are said to bring a new vitality. Il est préférable de prendre l'agent pour sujet passif, tournure spécifique à l'anglais et bien entendu impossible en français.

I'm so glad, I have the advantages of large cities: Supermarkets, Public transport Network, Theater, Concert Halls, Cinemas, … with the benifits of the campaign: The quiet work, Plants, Nature, Sweet smells and even bees that seem to delight in our ecological garden !

I hop all goes well on Oxfordshire, Steven probably enter on Secondary, already eleven yars old, he grew up so fast ! Alan himself must be in Galway, in Irland for it faculty of mathmatics, that is correct ? I also read on the wbsite of The Guardian that labour party had won the local elections. You see, I do not forget my country ! I will try to give you my new more often !

Merci de votre aide, il s'agit bien de la même personne et malheureusement, je ne l'ai aps pas écrit à la va-vite, de nombreuses fautes de frappes que je n'avaient avais pas vues, l'omniprésnce des majuscules est dûe à mon apprentissage de l'allemand ! Pour ce dernier point, je m'en doutais.Mais tu dois taper trop vite car tu intervertis certaines lettres et en laisses d'autres sur ton clavier !

Un jour d'examen ou de concours, il faut absolument que tu te ménages un temps de relecture pour éliminer toutes ces fautes qui sont très pénalisantes car tu ne pourras compter que sur toi.

De plus, quand il s'agit d'exercice ou de traductions, ça peut paraitre plus simple mais hors contexte, ça l'ai est beaucoup moins ...

Je vais tâcher de l'améliorer aux mieux grâce à vos remarques et corrections !

Visiting the outer boroughs today is like taking a trip around the world. In Queens, Hindus worship at a temple with carved elephant heads. West Indians play cricket in the shadow of the globe left over from the 1964 World's Fair. In the Bronx, Mexicans barbecue pork over open barrels in Pelham Park. Albanians gather in corner groceries to share job tips. And in Brooklyn, Rastafarians hold raucous drumming sessions in Prospect Park.

JFK airport in Queens has become the new Ellis Island, welcoming arrivals from all over the globe and whisking them off to neighborhoods ready to help them adapt. Pakistanis in the Bellerose neighborhood of Queens, for one, advertise job opportunities in local papers back home. So it's easy to understand why a newly arrived family from Karachi would head straight for Bellerose, where a mosque and a halal butcher are already established. But what makes the first person of any given background venture into unknown territory? Some unnamable blend of courage, opportunity and desperation, without which New York would never have become what Walt Whitman called the "proud and passionate... mettlesome, mad, extravagant city!" that it's renowned as today.

In this text, the journalist shows a number of qualities og immigrants. It shows that they have built New-York and have made Dockyards or garment factories. It also emphasizes the multicultural contribution of newcomers; Infact th autopr said « They brought their native foods and religions, customs and clothing which New-York graciously absrbed ».

For my part, I find that immigrants are people who are very determined and courageous. Indeed they are clos to many afforts to earn a living. They work lot of and hard but they also try to better intergrate without losing their cultures ! ( Want their children succeed in School, learning french …)

C'est encore moi, alors j'ai réecris le passage de mon petit paragraphe où je suis censé dire ce que pense les journaliste des immigrants, voilà le réusltat:

It shows that immigrants have built New York but they also made other things in this city. They have increased on average "17%" population in outer boroughs of the city but they also brought their cultur and have given new life to the city!

C'est encore moi, alors j'ai réécrit le passage de mon petit paragraphe où je suis censé dire ce que pense le journaliste des immigrants, voilà le résultat:

It shows that immigrants have built New York but they have also made other things in this city. They have increased the population on a 17% average 17% population<problème de construction : en règle générale, on ne sépare pas le verbe de son COD qui doit le suivre immédiatement in outer boroughs of the city but they have also brought their culture and have given new life to the city!<Dans ce texte, tu avais mélangé present perfect et prétérit, ce qui n'est pas grammaticalement justifiable. J'ai rectifié avec le present perfect partout.
