Well, it's true that the television opens a window on the world, whent you light up television, you see publicity, movies, programs, every kind of things that the television want you to look at.

Let's give a definition of a window: What it's really a window? Well, a window is this thing that it's in your house, or in your car, that let you see outside, but without touching any thing.

So, if the television opens a window, is to let us see outside, anywhere in the world, for example in Disnney channel, you can see english programs while you are in Spain. But you can't do anything with the things that you see on TV. Yes, it's true, we change the channel when there is something that don't please us, publicity for example, but we can't really choose what we want to see and to do.

While in the internet, we show what we want to make: play a game in a Website, write some mail, or do some searchs. Moreover, when your are in the internet you can take a part wherever you are. For example, you can talk with others peoples in forums, or in chats. And you also are likely to react to an article in an online encyclopedie (wikipedia for exemple), or in a blog...

That's why it's true that the internet offers you “a way of playing part wherever you are” because you can decide what you really when to make on it, and you can do whatever you want (exepted what it's prohibed: illegal downloads for example).

That's why, in my opinion, it's true that the television opens a window on the world, whereas the internet offers you “a way of playing part wherever you are.”, because, the Television show you what they want you to see, without the possibility to choose, or to play a part on it, while in the internet, you make what you really want, and you can take a part whenever and wherever you want or you need.
