The Get up Kids is an indie rock and emo band of Kansas City ( Missouri, United States ), cretead in 1995 and broken in 2005 .The Get Up Kids is formed in 1995 . At first the band is composer of Matthew Pyror ( voice and guitar ), Jim Sumtic ( guitar and voice ), Rob Pope ( bass) and Nathan Shay ( drums ) .The small brother of Rob replaces soon with Nathan Shay .The pianist James Dewees joins the band in 1999 for the second album . The first album appeared on Doghouse Record in 1997, is recorded in only two days . The critics of mucic is very good .In 2001, The Get up Kids gives a compilation of rare and original songs with some « reprises » of Suffragette City of David Bowie and Close to me of The Cure .In 2002; the band surprises with a trhird album, On a Wire, realises by Scott Litt ( REM ) . The sound is folker .The fourth and last album Guilt Show comes in 2004 . In 2005, the band announces the dissolution on his website after 10 years together . The good bye tour finishes the second of July of 2005 in Kansas City . A retrospective show Live at the Grenada Theater maybe will appear : it is about the recording of the concert of their 10th anniversairy, the seventh of January of 2005 in Laurence . All the menbers of The Get up Kids take part of projects like The New Amsterdams a band more acoustic created by Matthew Pyror in 2004 and Reggie and the full Effect, a band more humorous created by James Dewees in 1998 . The Get up Kids influences bands like Fall out boys and Dashboard Confessionnal .
