Bonjour je poursuis ma traduction....

The search went on. She knew that there were other policemen in the garden all around the house. She could hear their footsteps on the gravel outside, and sometimes she saw a flash of a torch through a chink in the curtains. It began to get late, nearly nine she noticed by the clock on the mantle. The four men searching the rooms seemed to be growing weary, a trifle exasperated.

La recherche continua. Elle savait qu'il y avait d'autres policiers dans le jardin tout autour de la maison. Elle pourrait entendre leurs pas sur le gravier à l'extérieur et parfois elle vit un flash d'une torche par une fente dans les rideaux. Il commencait à être tard, presque neuf heures remarqua -t-elle par l'horloge sur le rideau(?). Les quatre hommes fouillant dans les pièces semblaient devenir las, une bagatelle a exaspéré (?).

“Jack,” she said, the next tome Sergeant Noonan went by. “Would you mind giving me a drink?”

"Jack," dit-elle, le prochain .....Sergent Noonan partit. "Pourriez-vous me donner à boire?"

“Sure I’ll give you a drink. You mean this whiskey?”

"Bien-sur je vous donnerai une boisson. Vous pensez à ce whiskey?"

“Yes please. But just a small one. It might make me feel better.”

"Oui s'il vous plaît. Mais juste un petit. Cela me fera du bien"

He handed her the glass. Il lui tendit son verre

“Why don’t you have one yourself,” she said. “You must be awfully tired. Please do. You’ve been very good to me.”

"Pourquoi ne vous en êtes pas servi un vous-même," dit-elle. "Vous devez être fatigués. je vous en prie. Vous avez été très bons avec moi"

“Well,” he answered. “It’s not strictly allowed, but I might take just a drop to keep me going.”

"Et bien", répondit-il. "Ce n'est pas vraiment autorisé, mais je predrais bien une goutte......."?????

One by one the others came in and were persuaded to take a little nip of whiskey. They stood around rather awkwardly with the drinks in their hands, uncomfortable in her presence, trying to say consoling things to her. Sergeant Noonan wandered into the kitchen, come out quickly and said, “Look, Mrs. Maloney. You know that oven of yours is still on, and the meat still inside.”

Un à un les autres entrèrent et ont été persuadés de prendre une petite gorgée de whiskey. Ils étaient debout plutôt maladroitement avec les boissons dans leurs mains, inconfortables en sa présence, essayant de lui dire des choses pour la consoler. Le sergent Noonan a erré dans la cuisine, est sorti rapidement et a dit, "Regardez, Mme. Maloney. Vous savez que votre four est toujours allumé et la viande toujours à l'intérieur."

Pourquoi'you know that oven of yours' au lieu de 'you know that your oven..'? Je ne comprends pas.

et les phrases 'would you mind me +vb-ing' comment traduire: voudriez-vous bien? auriez-vous l'obligeance?....

Elle ENTENDAIT leurs pas sur le gravier à l'extérieur et parfois elle OYAIT UN ÉCLAIR d'une torche par une fente dans les rideaux. Il commencait à SE FAIRE tard, presque neuf heures remarqua -t-elle À l'horloge sur le MANTEAU DE LA CHEMINÉE. Les quatre hommes fouillant dans les pièces semblaient ÊTRE GAGNÉS par la lassitude ET UN BRIN D'EXASPÉRATION.

“Jack,” she said, the next tIme Sergeant Noonan went by. “Would you mind giving me a drink?”

"Jack," dit-elle, QUAND LE Sergent Noonan PASSA LA FOIS SUIVANTE. "Pourriez-vous me donner à boire?"

“Sure I’ll give you a drink. You mean this whiskey?”

"Bien-sÛr je VAIS vous EN CHERCHER une. Vous pensez à/VOULEZ DIRE ce whiskey-CI?"

“Yes please. But just a small one. It might make me feel better.”

"Oui s'il vous plaît. Mais juste un petit. Cela me REDONNERA PEUT-ÊTRE DES FORCES"

Ils RESTAIENT LÀ L'AIR plutôt maladroit LEUR VERRE À LA main, inconfortables en sa présence, essayant de lui dire des choses pour la consoler. Le sergent Noonan ALLA ERRER dans la cuisine, EN sortiT rapidement et dit, "Regardez, Mme. Maloney. Vous savez que votre four est toujours allumé et la viande toujours à l'intérieur."

Pourquoi'you know that oven of yours' au lieu de 'you know that your oven..'? Je ne comprends pas.< C'est sans doute pour l'auteur une façon de caractériser le dialogue particulier du Sergent Noonan.

et les phrases 'would you mind me +vb-ing' comment traduire: voudriez-vous bien? auriez-vous l'obligeance?....<Oui ! Ou encore, "ça vous dérangerait de + infinitif ?"
