Ainsi, je me demandais si quelqu'un voulais bien prendre quelques minutes afin de corriger les erreurs. Merci d'avance, I'm going to talk about '' idea of progress". To begin with, i'd like to state a definition of progress. Progress is the idea that the world and the society can evolve positively in terms of sciences, technology, modernization, liing condition, etc. However, the idea of progress is stil, debate between those who consider that it's beneficial and those for whom it's harmful. Is genetic manipulation a positive or a negative progress for the society ? First, we will present the disadvantages of genetic manipulation and in a second time, we will present the benefits of genetic manipulation. To illustrate my two parts, I am going to use three documents seen in class. To begin, the first document is an extract of the novel of Aldous Huxley taken from “Brave new world” he talks about the problem of technology. They want to normalize humans in order to make them subject. The goal of the progress is to produce scores of identical human beings classified in groups. A surrogate mother is a woman who carries a baby destined for another family than her own. She can be the biological mother of the child (the fertilized egg is one of her own) or simply carry an embryo fertilized by the father and mother to whom the child is destined. The surrogate mother acts for various reasons (moral, affective, financial). Take the case of the newspaper article of The Guardian published in December 2009 studied in class. Sarita, an Indian woman married by force to her neighbor's son. The couple needed money and could not get a loan, so Sarita decided to become a surrogate mother to earn money. The only problem was finding an excuse to explain this to his village. After meeting the couple who asked they started the process with frozen sperm and in exchange received a sum of money as well as payment for her pregnancy expenses. But this type of action as well as the motivation of the future parents and the surrogate mother have raised many debates. We talk about the commercialization of the human body. Indeed, many people consider that it could help many couples who can not give birth otherwise, but it is also necessary that the mother-carrier accepts Give the child after birth. Moreover, it must be known that it is prohibited in France apart from Canada, in California but also in the United Kingdom, in Finland ... “A saviour sibling” is a child who was born to save a family member who is affected with a fatal disease. The child is conceived in through in-vitro fertilization and PGD(preimplantation genetic diagnosis). The child is destined to provide an organ or cell transplant in order to cure the illness. I read a newspaper article drawn from USA Today published in October 2010; it talks about Molly Nash and her brother Adam Nash. Molly is affected with Fanconi Animia and she was saved by her brother Adam. Adam is the first designed baby, when he was born his blood from umbilical cord was transplanted to his sister. This article shows the advantage of the scientific progress, in fact the medical benefits allow to save life. The designer babies is a good thing for parents who can't have children. According to Unicef, more than 8 million children are abandoned in the streets in the world. Many parents are disappointed by discovering the face of their child during the childbirth. Of other children are abandoned because they do not correspond to the definite criteria. It is likely that the number of abandonments will have decreased thanks to the babies designers. To conclude, we can consider genetic manipulation as a positive progress for the society . Thanks to the medical improvements, we can save lives, enhance life conditions and maybe in the future eradicate some genetic diseases. Progress is the idea that the world and the society can evolve positively in terms of sciences, technology, modernization, living condition, etc. However, the idea of progress is still debated between those who consider that it's beneficial and those for whom it's harmful. À qui fait-il référence ? Mystère. Remplace le par un nom explicite. The goal of the progress is to produce scores of identical human beings classified in groups. After meeting the couple who asked they started the process with frozen sperm and in exchange received a sum of money as well as payment for her pregnancy expenses.
